All is Fallen (Away)

Chord Charts

The idea of the song tries to capture the word 'away' as a person is trying to make entrance into another's life yet is being pushed away. Still, despite the distance that remains from the offers of genuine friendship, the best way to extend support for someone going through hardship is the grace of simply being there - even if they are not there themselves.

All of My Days

Chord Charts

I wrote this song out of a devotional time asking God to lead me into greater ways of worshipping him. The song is a prayer petitioning God for understanding on how to worship him, follow him, and honor him for a lifetime.

Glory in the Highest

Chord Charts

This was a first attempt at a Christmas song depicting the participants in the worship at the birth of Christ. Like the angels, sheperds, and magi, may we also say, 'Glory to God in the highest' for bringing salvation near us.

Dance With Me

Chord Charts

The song ‘Dance with Me’ is about the holy wonder of intimacy in the union of two, and the mystery of two becoming one. The chorus of the song is the invitation for a man and a woman to share in the dance. This is the dance that couples are called to in marriage; this is the dance that the Lord intended from the beginning.

Daybreak

Chord Charts

Daybreak was framed through an experience of both waiting on God and learning to hear from Him. One morning, while travelling on break from a mission, I got up early and hiked up a trail along a cliff that led me to a secluded place where I could pray. As I spent time in prayer calling out to God, I marveled at how the sun broke through the clouds, and enjoyed the presence of God as he strengthened me. I learned that day that the Lord does not simply speak to give direction and solve problems in our lives, but he speaks his love to us by name.

For What You've Done in Us

Chord Charts

If you look at Ephesians chapter 1, you will notice all the action verbs that describe the work of Christ in saving his people. What did his people do? Nothing! God has done it all through his marvelous grace in Christ Jesus!

God of All

Chord Charts

The works of God, both with his people and among the nations, are awesome. The song, 'God of All' is based on the deeds of God described poetically in Exodus 15. Here, Moses and God’s people, the Israelites’, are offering a new song to the Lord based on deliverance from Pharaoh and his armies.

Gone Away

Chord Charts

'Gone Away' is a mysterious and melancholy song about a love that seems to be fading or experiencing brief fallout. The message is built around the choices made in human relationships, giving proof to the saying, ‘You never know a great thing until it’s gone’.

Jordan Turned Back

Chord Charts

I love the imagery found in the Old Testament. In Psalm 114, the psalmist poetically states that God tracelessly walked through the Sea of Reeds to open it up for his people to cross. Then, his footsteps vanished as the water closed in on the enemies of God.

My Journey

Chord Charts

In today's digital age, we can preserve so much of reality that story becomes lost. This songs sings about the triumph of story as retold through the eyes of someone who has just experienced something that will change his/her life forever.

Let Every Heart (O Come Let Us Adore Him)

Chord Charts

Part of songwriting is drawing from the past in order to make the old 'new'. In this Christmas song, the corporate response of worship leads to adoration of the baby in the manger; who is also King of Kings.

So Sorry

Chord Charts

This song was written reflecting back on the death of my mother in July of 1996. Though many people try to offer explainations in loss, the best thing to do is say 'sorry' and just be there as the person experiencing grief tries to make sense of it all.

Solitary Night

Chord Charts

'Solitary Night' is a pop laced love tune about my engagement to my wife in July 2001. Simple and soulful, the lyrics represent the tension of love and committment in a world of uncertainty.

Solitary Night Reprise

Chord Charts

If I could take you from this place, far away for here.

If I could, we'd leave this all behind, so far away,

Find our way down that road.

Sweet Adeleine (It's Your Birthday)

Chord Charts

Our first child, Adeleine Joy, was born on May 5, 2010. I wrote this song in the hospital waiting for her delivery. Though it was her birthday, her mom and dad truly received the best gift!

Returning

Chord Charts

Lamentations 3:37-44 has unique significance in my own life as I seek the Lord in prayer. Often times, it is a struggle to devote time to prayer. Sometimes the difficulty in my absent prayer life results from disobedience. Ultimately, I am comforted in these times when I take the step to return back to the Lord in confession and repentance.

Salvation Well

Chord Charts

Stemming from meditations in Isaiah chapter 12, the song, ‘Salvation Well’, celebrates the infinite wisdom of God in the progressive revealation of his beautiful plan in capturing the hearts of nations and inviting them to true Yahweh worship.

Search Me

Chord Charts

Written as a worship song and prayer, 'Search Me' is a heartfelt cry to experience God in the middle of directional anxiety and find a personal pathway to purpose.

The One and Only

Chord Charts

Sung as a worship song in hymnic fashion, 'The One and Only', relates to the work of God the Father, Spirit, and Son and their individual essences. In the first verse, God the Father is worshipped as the one who has sent the Son. The second verse introduces Jesus as the essence of God who was revealed in the flesh and the third verse is dedicated to the Holy Spirit.

Thoughts of You

Chord Charts

I had the pleasure of co-writing and arranging this song for Derek Martin. Overall, the meesage of the song is to move love beyond thoughts into action that our mates can see and experience.

To Your Name

Chord Charts

The pslamist in Paslm 115 writes, 'Not to us, but to your name be the glory.' Indeed, all praise is given to God; for all that life consists of is a gift from him. Therefore, who are we boast or exalt in our own glory?

Unwind

Chord Charts

Experiencing God in the most surprising of places is what the message of this song is about. Though the place doesn't matter, when we retreat to find God, he surprises us with His manifest presence.

After hearing Lance Odegard's song entitled 'Yours', I asked him if I could borrow the chorus and frame a corporate worship song around it. The outcome is a song that boasts in the majesty, splendor, and love of God.
